Below is a list of frequent questions many travelers have asked in past tours. If your question is not awnsered, please do not hesitate to leave an enquiry with your booking.
1. Do you offer private tours or customized itineraries?
Yes! We offer fully private tours and customized itineraries tailored to your schedule, preferences, budget, and travel style. Whether you want a luxury safari, a photography-focused trip, or a unique cross-country adventure, we will design the perfect journey for you.
2. Can solo travelers book tours meant for groups?
Yes, solo travelers are welcome to join our scheduled small-group tours (subject to availability). Alternatively, solo travelers can book a private, fully tailored tour. Single supplement fees may apply for group bookings to cover individual room costs.
3. Which currencies and payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), direct bank transfers, and major credit/debit cards (Visa and MasterCard). Invoices and quotes are typically issued in Namibian Dollars (NAD) or South African Rand (ZAR), which are pegged 1:1. Cash payments in NAD or ZAR are accepted upon arrival by prior agreement.
4. Can I change or cancel my booking?
Yes. Booking modifications (such as changing dates or guest counts) are subject to availability and potential price adjustments. Cancellations must be made in writing. Refunds or cancellation fees depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your departure date, as well as non-refundable deposits made to lodges and park authorities. Full details are outlining in our Terms & Conditions.
5. What happens if Mountain View Safari cancels my tour?
In the rare event that Mountain View Safaris must cancel a tour due to unforeseen circumstances, severe weather, or safety concerns, you will receive the option to reschedule your tour at no extra charge or receive a full refund of payments made directly to us.
6. Do you offer airport transfers and hotel pickups?
Yes, we offer complimentary pickups and drop-offs at Hosea Kutako International Airport, Eros Airport, and any hotel, lodge, or guesthouse within Windhoek or designated tour starting points.
7. Where do tours start and end?
Most of our standard tours start and end in Windhoek, Namibia. However, because we customize itineraries, tours can also begin or end at alternative locations, such as Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, or border entry points upon request.
8. Is transport included, and will a guide accompany us?
Yes! All guided tours include transport in comfortable, air-conditioned tour vehicles suited for local terrain. A professional, qualified tour guide/driver will accompany you throughout your entire journey to manage navigation, game drives, and logistics.
9. What accommodation options are available?
We cater to various preferences and budgets, offering accommodation ranging from comfortable mid-range lodges and guest farms to luxury safari camps and boutique hotels. For adventurous travelers, we can also arrange structured camping safaris with full gear provided.
10. Can you arrange a self-drive trip or vehicle rental?
Yes! If you prefer independent travel, we can design a comprehensive self-drive itinerary, secure 4x4 vehicle rentals (equipped with camping gear if required), book all accommodation in advance, and supply detailed maps and route recommendations.
11. What should I pack for a safari or desert tour?
We recommend packing light, comfortable clothing in neutral colors (khaki, beige, green). Key essentials include:
-
Comfortable walking shoes or trail boots.
-
Warm layers (fleece/jacket) for cold desert nights and early morning game drives.
-
Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen)
-
Binoculars and camera equipment.
-
Personal prescription medications and mosquito repellent.
-
A reusable water bottle.
12. Do I need a visa, including for multi-country tours?
Entry requirements depend on your nationality and passport. Many visitors qualify for visa-free entry or can obtain an online e-Visa / Visa-on-Arrival. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates with at least 3 blank pages. If traveling on a multi-country itinerary (e.g., crossing into Botswana or Zimbabwe), you are responsible for checking and securing valid visas for all destination countries prior to travel.
13. Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is strictly required for all guests. Your policy must cover emergency medical expenses, medical evacuation, trip cancellation, personal luggage loss, and travel interruptions.
14. Are the tours suitable for children or travelers with limited mobility?
Yes! We welcome families with children and travelers with mobility needs. Because some lodges and terrain involve uneven walking or high steps into safari vehicles, please inform us during booking so we can tailor the vehicle, pace, and lodge selection for comfort and accessibility.
15. Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
Yes. We accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, lactose-intolerant, and other dietary preferences or allergies. Please inform us of any specific requirements at the time of booking so our partner lodges and catering staff can prepare accordingly.
17. What happens if weather or road conditions affect the itinerary?
Your safety is our top priority. If severe weather, flooded roads, or unforeseen natural conditions make a planned route unsafe, your guide and travel planner will adjust the itinerary to alternative routes, activities, or accommodations of equal standard.
